Archive for February, 2008

Well, I’ve spent a lot of time on this and I hesitate posting too much as it cost me $2000 and don’t want to give it away. That being said, I came home from the day job this past Monday to find half of everything gone and a “Sorry I did it this way…but, we need some time apart…” note. Great, my wife left. So, this week has been a head trip to say the least. My head is totally out of this at the moment and I need to get it back in. Wonderful timing, huh. Well, I will have to get the rest of everything downloaded and get focused again.

CRAP, Had to take a break to get my documents together for my accountant. I almost forgot to go thru the shoe box of receipts, enter them on my spreadsheet, etc. Running multiple side businesses and not keeping up with the paperwork = bulk time required prior to annual tax meeting. That being said, I’ve been busy getting organized for my meeting next week. That’s now done and back to the course.

What can I say except  “informaton overload”. So many hours of videos that I still haven’t had the time to watch them all. This is a good thing not in any way a bad thing. Anyway just in case anyone out there  actually found my blog and is checking in, here is an update…

Well, it is nice not to see all 50 bookmarking sites listed under every post. Guess I can live with just the one. For now anyway.

Working on laying out a plan and doing a little subject brainstorming. Working out pretty good. A lot of video to download, though. Most are over 400mb and even with a fast connection it is slow. Must be the new host. Downloaded the last 3, for now, early this morning. Tried to switch to +add me but, can’t log in. Copy/paste in the log in and nothing. Oh well, try again. These, below, are too much. I can block some but, I would rather have once per page rather than every post. I’ll figure it out. Afterall, not too much to do right now… day job, mass control, and get docs ready for taxes.

A new friend suggested, I’ll give it a shot, and see how it goes. Akismet > Activated. Thanks Lynn.

Planning. Sounds like a no-brainer but, all to often it is just not done. Working in the corporate world, I tend to see “over planning”. So much so that it actually causes problems. Meetings, meetings, teleconferences (TC’s), message boards (databases), and more meetings creating a sea of documentation madness. The problem with this type of over planning is that the planners have no idea on what they are planning. They spend so much time at high level planning that no time is spent at the low level, where it eventually ends up. Usually laiden with issues that were not thought of. The people in the trenches don’t know anything.

Planning the course of development from square one, getting it down on paper, and creating a deadline. We have all heard it before, “Write it down on paper” and most of us don’t. I’m one who hasn’t. I mean it is in my head right. Why right it down? Writing it down is more concrete, it is there visible right in front of you. So, it is time to follow all those peoples advise before Frank, Frank, after Frank and right it down.

I’m going to have to figure out how to get rid of all these annoying social bookmarking tags that keep showing up after each post. I’ll have to check out the plug-in’s info. Would rather they stay in the column or maybe I’ll switch to another way. Newbie problems.

Mass Control, Frank, pulled in some good money in about an hour but, that came with some major headaches. Server overload, double billing, hosting change, and logins not working. That’s only what I know about. Good news is that all of that appears to now be in the past and corrected.

I was able to finally login yesterday afternoon around 3:00 pm ET. I think a lot of it had to do with DNS being changed and the slow propagation thru the system. That’s after checking Whois and noticing it was still point to GoDaddy. Yesterday is gone and today and tomorrows are at hand.

Welcome to mymasscontrol, a Newbie goes for it to show other newbies that they can do it too. Feel free to follow along with my Mass Control experince journal. All are welcome. One thing is I’ve decided not to have comments. I really don’t want to deal with all the spam I hear about. Sorry but, I tapped the card for the money and really want to learn Frank’s way and not learn how to deal with spam.

I made it!!! That was easier to type than it was to actually make it. I was on the “Early” list with another 4000 + that had advance access to sign up. I kept checking and when the page went live, I jumped. Apparently, so did a lot of others on the list. Talk about a feeding frenzy. Reminded me of being in the Bahamas a couple years ago and feeding the fish in the water. There would be one fish swimming around and as soon as I dropped a piece of bread in the water, there would be fish everywhere. Well that is what signing up for Mass Control was like.

First time I got as far as submitting the card info, hit submit, and “server not available”. It took me 15 minutes and many attempts to get just back to that point. I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to spend the money. Can you imagine that. Finally, I made it, success.

Now just click on the member’s log in and see what’s on the other side. Nope, too much traffic. I would not have believed it if I didn’t experience it for myself. And, that is what it’s about. The reason I’m here.

Anyway, tag along as I learn how to put the pieces together. I’m not going to be posting Mass Control here.  That wouldn’t be fair to the rest. Just the journal of my experience learning from well, the master. It should be beneficial for Newbies as well as the seasoned Guru. I will have a sign up page up soon if, you want to sign up. I was hoping to do that this morning but, the member’s area is still having problems. I just need to know some information to help me decide on which autoresponder I want to sign up with. See I really am a total newbie….
